RISE Now's goal is to work with interested communities and schools to organize playground projects using primarily recycled tires. We bring designs, volunteers and help find funding to make play possible where it wasn't before.
Many communities in Mexico, India and Africa do not have designated play spaces. It has been shown by similar projects that by engaging the local community at every stage of construction, using recycled and locally sourced materials, and giving sole ownership and responsibility of the completed playground to the community, local groups have acquired the ideas and confidence to do other projects in neighboring areas. In schools where past playgrounds have been built, teachers have noticed marked improvement in school attendance and concentration of students.
